Kilo-Class （Project 887）

By Narvikhr

An entirely new albacore design was introduced in the latest submarine in the soviet arsenal‚ that being‚ the Kilo-class diesel-electric attack submarine （SS）․ The spiritual successor to the Foxtrot-class of diesel submarines‚ the Kilo would prove an even deadlier opponent given the recent developments in the Soviet Navy in their subsurface munitions․ Should war have broken out by then‚ the Kilo would have served in a more or less the same purposes like the Foxtrot‚ such as fleet escort and hunter-killer․ Though‚ even with improvements‚ the propulsion remained sluggish even after a decade․ ＂The shiniest red diesel sub on the market․ Though it can give the best a run for their money‚ it has its limits․ - Narvikhr
