Discord bot

Find and share public VRChat avatars in your Discord server. AviSeek is hosted for you; no API key or separate website login is needed to use its commands.

Quick start

  1. Visit the bot page and select Add to Discord. Choose a server you can manage and approve the permissions.
  2. In a channel AviSeek can access, type /aviseek help and select the command from Discord’s picker.
  3. Try /aviseek search query:robot. Use the optional platform field to filter for PC, Quest or iOS.
  4. Use /aviseek avatar with an avatar ID or avatar page link to share its preview.

Commands work in servers, not direct messages. Searches use the existing public catalog; they do not import missing avatars or change your equipped VRChat avatar.

/aviseek settings

View or change this server’s settings. Requires Manage Server. Settings replies are always private.

Options: channel, private, reset (all optional)

Server settings

A member with Manage Server can configure AviSeek. Each server has independent settings. Run /aviseek settings without options to see the current configuration.

/aviseek settings channel:#avatars

Restrict commands to a text or announcement channel. Select your real channel in Discord’s picker. The bot must be able to view it, send messages and embed links. Managers can still run settings elsewhere.

/aviseek settings private:true

Make future replies visible only to the person who requested them. Set private:false to share future results in the channel. This does not remove earlier public replies.

/aviseek settings reset:true

Restore the defaults: any permitted channel and public replies. Saved settings are also removed when AviSeek leaves the server.

You can combine channel and private options. Settings confirmations are always private.

Website server dashboard

Open Manage your servers, sign into AviSeek, then connect Discord. Only servers you own or have Administrator permission in appear. Permission is checked again with Discord whenever you load or save settings. Manage Server alone is sufficient for the existing slash settings command, but not for the website dashboard.

Choose a server to pause commands, restrict the command channel or make replies private. The channel picker includes text and announcement channels where AviSeek has View Channels, Send Messages and Embed Links. If the bot is missing, use the server-specific invite and then check again. Restore defaults prepares the default settings; press Save settings to apply them. Each server is independent. Pausing a server does not switch off the bot globally.

Discord Linked Roles

Members connect at AviSeek Linked Roles. Discord asks for identify, guilds and role_connections.write permissions. AviSeek never asks for a Discord password, reads messages or needs Manage Roles to provide these checks.

  1. In Discord, open Server Settings → Roles. Create or edit a role, select Links, then Add requirement and AviSeek.
  2. Choose checks and thresholds. A connected-member role needs AviSeek account. A VRChat role can also require VRChat identity linked. A verified Legend role uses Verified Legend.
  3. For supporter roles, set Patreon supporter level to at least 1 (Bronze), 2 (Silver), 3 (Gold), 4 (Platinum) or 5 (Platinum+). Zero means no currently confirmed tier. Unknown tier names do not grant supporter eligibility.
  4. For collector roles, use Saved avatars with a threshold such as 10, 25 or 50. Multiple requirements on one role must all pass. These activity checks are not proof of avatar ownership.
  5. Members connect AviSeek, sync their checks, then open Linked Roles from the Discord server menu and choose a role. Configure channel permissions for that role in Discord if desired.

Discord allows five metadata checks per app; these five can support many different role combinations. Role creation, requirements and channel access are managed in Discord, not automatically by AviSeek. Members can inspect every shared value before syncing and disconnect from the same page.

Saved-avatar counts come from the current AviSeek account. VRChat identity, verified status and Patreon tier come from VRChat Legends sign-in and must be refreshed by signing in again within 24 hours. Unconfirmed or expired claims become zero on the next successful update. The backend checks connected accounts approximately hourly, even when the browser is closed. Use Sync checks for an immediate update after making changes. Discord outages or revoked authorization can delay updates and role removal.

Application owner setup

In the Discord Developer Portal for application 1551811972947906630, add OAuth redirect https://aviseek.vrchatlegends.com/api/discord/callback. Set Linked Roles Verification URL to https://aviseek.vrchatlegends.com/bot/linked-roles. Set DISCORD_CLIENT_SECRET in the backend environment, using the OAuth client secret, and keep DISCORD_BOT_TOKEN configured. Never expose either value to the frontend.

Metadata is registered with Discord on the first successful role sync and refreshed daily. The OAuth token store is encrypted using DISCORD_TOKEN_ENCRYPTION_KEY if provided, otherwise a key derived from DISCORD_CLIENT_SECRET. Keep that key stable; rotating it requires users to reconnect. PUBLIC_URL must match the website origin and registered redirect. Website changes are limited to 30 Discord requests per minute per signed-in account and 40 per minute per IP, plus the API backstop and Discord’s own limits.

If AviSeek is missing from role requirements, finish application setup and connect and sync a member account first. If a check is stale, sign into VRChat Legends again and sync. If your Discord grant was revoked, reconnect to clear checks and disconnect, or remove AviSeek from Discord Connections and Authorized Apps.

Permissions & rate limits

The invite requests View Channels, Send Messages and Embed Links. Channel overrides still apply. AviSeek does not request Administrator, the privileged message-content intent or the member-list intent.

  • 6 commands per person per minute, shared across servers.
  • 30 commands per server per minute.
  • 120 commands across the entire bot per minute.

If a limit is reached or the bot is busy, its reply tells you how long to wait. Help, settings and page buttons also count toward these limits. Only the person who ran the command can turn its pages. Buttons expire after 10 minutes or a backend restart; run the command again for fresh results.

Command inputs and user/server identifiers are processed to answer requests and apply limits. Server preferences are saved; rate-limit counters are temporary. Read the Privacy Policy.

Troubleshooting

I cannot see /aviseek

Confirm AviSeek is in this server, then reopen the command picker or reload Discord. Check your role can use application commands and the server’s integration settings allow AviSeek in this channel.

The bot asks me to use another channel

Your server has a dedicated command channel. Use the channel mentioned in the reply, or ask a server manager to change or reset the setting.

Missing permissions or images

Check the bot’s role and channel overrides for View Channels, Send Messages and Embed Links. Avatar images require a catalog image URL that is still accessible.

An avatar is unavailable

Only publicly listed AviSeek entries can be returned. Private, blocked or missing entries are unavailable. Check the avatar ID and its AviSeek page.

The bot is offline or does not respond

Check the live status on the bot page. If online, check channel permissions and wait for any cooldown. Contact support with the command and error text if the problem continues. Never send tokens or passwords.
